New Recruits Ready to Take the Next Step: Receiving MTP Uniform
Over the past four weeks, our new recruits at 863 (Thurston) Squadron have shown remarkable growth and dedication. From mastering the basics of drill and learning about the proud history of the Air Training Corps (ATC) to participating in various activities designed to build their confidence and teamwork, each recruit has taken significant steps forward. Now, they are approaching a key milestone in their journey – receiving their Multi-Terrain Pattern (MTP) uniform.
The MTP uniform represents more than just new attire; it’s a symbol of the progress they’ve made since joining the squadron. Having demonstrated their ability to uphold the standards of drill and discipline expected of them, these new recruits are now ready to wear the uniform that signifies their role within the wider RAF family.
This evening, the recruits will be issued their MTP uniforms and given thorough instructions on how to wear and maintain them. These essential lessons are crucial for ensuring that they are ready to present themselves smartly, adhering to the high standards of appearance expected in the ATC. In particular, maintaining the condition of their uniform shows pride in their role and the organisation.
Parents are reminded that, as part of the uniform requirements, brown combat boots must be purchased to be compliant with our uniform standards. Proper footwear is key to maintaining the professional appearance of the uniform, and recruits will need these boots by Monday, 14th October, when the MTP uniform becomes mandatory for them to wear..
After tonight’s session, the recruits will have all the tools and knowledge they need to proudly wear their new uniform at their next session. This marks the beginning of the next phase of their ATC journey, as they move forward with greater responsibility and a stronger sense of belonging.
We look forward to seeing the recruits step up and continue their development as they grow into the core values of the ATC.
